New Therapy Sheds Light on an Alternative to Surgery for Pain

TAMPA, Fla., – Oct. 3, 2014 –A new treatment called Adult Stem Cell Therapy is now available at the Regenerative Orthopedic Institute in Tampa. Stem Cell Therapy can be used instead of surgery to repair worn out and damaged joints.

Joint pain is caused by a number of factors, including osteoarthritis, aging, injuries and inactivity. Adult Stem Cell Therapy is a safe and effective treatment to repair joints using the patient’s own cells.

“Patients often become sedentary when they are experiencing pain in their joints. Unfortunately, not getting enough physical activity increases problems with weight-bearing joints like the hips, knees and spine,” says Erick Grana, M.D., Board Certified Physiatrist with the Regenerative Orthopedic Institute. “It’s a tough cycle to break when patients are unable to be physically active because they are experiencing pain.”

“It’s important for individuals experiencing joint pain to know all of the possible treatment options, both what can be done at home as well as by a physician,” says Dr. Grana. “Physical activity is very important to help get patients back to their normal activities, ultimately helping to improve their overall health. Patients often need medical intervention to overcome their pain and start being active again.”

The Regenerative Orthopedic Institute treats neck, back and joint pain using Stem Cell Therapy. Stem Cell Therapy has proven to be effective for patients with degenerated joints. Surgery and joint replacement can be avoided using Stem Cell Therapy to repair knees, shoulders, hips, elbows, ankles, feet and the spine.
